Act Now! Students Shine in the West End

We are so proud of our student Zak (correct spelling!) he is doing so well! A great achievement! And thank you for the mention in the paper!

Another of our students, Joe, is currently appearing in Liolá at The National Theatre in London, another amazing achievement!

We realise that not all students wish to enter the profession, but we support those who do, and we also focus on those who want to attend classes to have fun and increase their confidence.

All our students are individuals and they have our support and encouragement always, in whatever direction they want to take the skills they learn with us.

If you are looking for an independent, caring, award winning school, with outstanding teaching and results, then why not come for a free, no obligation, trial lesson? We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes

Sue

St Albans Street Party

We will be at St Albans street party today in the city centre flyering for our fabulous Summer Course Les Misérables. If you see us in our Act Now! tee shirts, come and say hi! See you there!
Fingers crossed that the weather holds!

Meet the Band!

Act Now! senior students had a lovely surprise on Thursday when they were invited to meet local-grown, now uber-famous, band Enter Shikari, who were rehearsing at Trestle Arts Base for the Download Festival. The guys in the band were lovely, and I am sure they are an inspiration to young local people. Thanks to the band and their team!

Back to reality (mind you it's a pretty exciting reality!) we are working hard on our Showcase for Sunday 14th July at the Radlett Centre and also on our Summer School - Les Mis (5th - 16th August) at Trestle Arts Base. Tickets and places are now on sale for both, so order now via our website or drop us an email or call!

Now all we need is for the sun to come out and it will really feel like summer!

A very busy, buzzing and happy school!

It's all go, go, go here at Act Now! We have so many wonderful things going on and new classes to add to our already impressive choice.

Our senior class The Biz are hard at work in rehearsals for their production of Sweeney Todd to be staged in March, and we are very lucky to have West End actors Emily Bull and Elliot Harper offering their invaluable help with the show and sharing their skills and experience with the students. It's not to late to join if you would like to be a part of this class and the show!

Our two newest classes are well underway with numbers rising by the week: ACTivate on a Saturday morning from 10am - 1pm for ages 12 - 16, and focusing on acting skills (no singing or dance)  is proving to be extremely popular; and our newest class FirstACT on a Thursday from 4pm - 5.50pm is a delightful class for smallest performers aged rising 4 to 6, who are currently having great fun with the Gruffalo!

After Easter we will be starting our new weekly workshop for Adults! Fridays 8pm - 9pm Aged 21 - 101. This has come about after so many of our mums and dads have said, "oh I wish there was something like this for us". Well now there is!! And whether you are an experienced performer who just wants to keep your skills fresh, or brand new to acting, then this is the class for you. It's never to late to start a new hobby or career - even in acting!

In the Summer term we will be full steam ahead for our Annual Showcase in July and then our Summer Course (5th - 16th August with 3 Performances) of Les Misérables.

It really is all go! And we love it!

An exciting New Year ahead!

How lovely to be back at Act Now! classes!

There is much excitement at Act Now! this term as we look forward to welcoming children to our new class for rising 4 - 6 year olds, FirstACT! This class runs at Trestle Arts Base on Thursdays from 4pm - 4.50pm and promises to be a wonderful, fun and exciting introduction to performing arts for the little ones.

At the other end of the school, our Senior class TheBiz are currently rehearsing their end of spring show, the musical Sweeney Todd. It really is looking fantastic! If you are interested in joining this class and being in Sweeney, then it's never to late - do contact us.

All our other classes begin work on their end of term in-house shows and everyone has made a start on pieces for our annual showcase on 20th/21st July - exciting times!

We are happy to announce that as of this year, as well as our classes, all our productions will now be at Trestle Arts Base, our venue for a year now - and what an amazing year it's been. Act Now! has truly found it's home!

Happy New Year everyone, and I look forward to seeing you in our classes and in our audiences!

Summer is here!

A whole term into 2012 and we are thoroughly enjoying our new home at Trestle Arts Base.

The Summer Term has begun and we are all working hard towards our Showcase in July.

It has been lovely to welcome some more new students and they are already fully involved, having made loads of new friends and feeling part of the Act Now! family already.

We are finalising details of our Summer Course which will run from 30th July - 10th August, with rehearsal days at Trestle Arts Base and the performance at The Radlett Centre. Many students are already booked on, so contact us to reserve your place.

We continue to grow which is, I believe, the natural result of a nurturing environment. Our students are thriving and are very happy, which is all that matters.

Warm wishes for some sunny days ahead.

Until my next blog, all the best.  Sue x
